Ladislao ....

The white haired Mount Boy between Dennis Gurley and me is HARRY LAUGHLIN

He also appears in the photo with Peter Tang, Dennis and Don ...

I took that photograph myself ....

It was great to see Harry Laughlin after all these years .... the same good old friend ....the conversation with Harry was superb !!! .... we shared some good memories of Mount, The basketball team,.. our coach Tuko ...the scouting experience, the band, ... it was great !

Actually, that was my camera that took all those photos ...

Peter Tang took the photo of Harry, Dennis and myself (the last in the attachments) ...

I took all the other photos in which I do not appear ... including the one with Jon Golding, Stuart Henderson (Cush) and the Mitchell Brothers (Big & Small BoxHeads)

It was sooo great to see them all again .. and they were all as great as ever ...

I will treasure the moments at Dennis home - with my Mount Boy school mates - for the rest of my life.

Dennis and Marie Gurley - on their part - were the most gentle and generous hosts anyone could ever expect.

GOD Bless them ! I will keep those memories in my heart forever !!!!

RE: Property Down the Islands ???...

Glen Mckoy ...

Hello Nigel,

Season greetings.

I always thought the Mount had a place down the islands, unless they were renting.

Anyhow, when we the Trinis went home for the long weekend the other boys not from Trinidad went down the islands. I will forward this email to Coscarat, he would know, or just ask Cutty.

Take care, best regards for the New Year

Dear Glen,

I read your Dec 8/07 note with interest, particularly because I was unaware that the Abbey School had anything to do with something or the other which you mentioned (see red highlight below) "Down the Islands."

Would you please let me know what you're talking about, because I left the Mount in 1960, and perhaps an acquisition was made after I'd left the place.

If in fact the Abbey School, or the Mount itself did own a property down the islands, you're quite right - what happened to it?

Your question is a good one.

Happy New Year to you and yours.

Hi there guys,

How yuh doing and thanks for the angel that's all I need, about the Abbey, the play grounds and the swimming pool.

I think its a good idea to re-established things as it was before, but I think the people who were in charge of it before, should not be in charge again of the operation as they never kept it going once the money ended (this would be the church).

They never invested in the assets they had like the pool etc.

This place could have been an excellent private sports club for families etc. with tennis courts etc., but was left to waste away.

Our field could have hosted some of the football games in the country or in that area, it was well build, I don't know how bad it is now.

I think the only way this venture can work is as a business.

Once up and running, it must be profitable, in order to pay a lease to the church for its sport facility etc.

This kind of business takes the management and staff that are committed to sports in a professional way for they are the front line of what will make or break this type of business.

Sorry if I may sound a little negative with some of my comments, however we must not let emotions cloud our judgement.

I am also sorry to see the this place that made so many good sporting teams, and the confidence that sports give to the youths, were left in ruin for so long.

I am committed to invest in this project after a feasibility study has been done, and if this is the way the old boys want to go.

How come no body mention doing something down the Islands, what ever happened to that place??.

I think that could be a really good place to develop, and could draw top dollar from tourist and locals looking for a private place, what do you think??? Looking forward to comments.

Dear Ladislao,

Douglas Watson is my brother but I can’t get him to use a computer on a consistent enough basis for email.

I see Richard Clarke, Phillip de Pass in the area quite often.

Humphrey Hokoon I haven’t seen in many years he used to fly for the National Airline will try to locate him.

Haven’t see Gerard Anderson since a couple of years after I left school I’ll make some enquiry and get back to you

As for the rest of guys, I don’t recognise the names.

Ed

Thanks Joanne,

I suspected that in the tone of your letter, and we will continue to pray for the repose of his soul.

We too have some sad news as Val's Mum passed away very suddenly, at 1.00 a.m. (with a heart attack) yesterday, within an hour, so it was peaceful and sudden.

She was one month short of 88.

We left at 1.00 p.m. Val & I, our two eldest (A & B) plus her brothers daughter.

Son E arrives on Sat, and daughter C arrives on Sun.

Funeral is on Mon in Scarborough at 11.00 a.m.

We are at her residence in Scarborough and can be reached at 416-267-3234, and will be here approx 2 weeks as needed.

We mourn together,

Vaya con Dios!

With much love,

Art & Val

Dear Arthur:

Somehow you must've not received the e-mail I sent informing everyone about Dad's passing.

Dad died on Jan 08.

In he end he had many complications that took a toll on his week body.

He was in hospital for a day and there was nothing the doctors could have done.

Thank you for giving him one last opportunity to relive happier moments of his life.

He always vividly remembered his W.I. friends and your call surely lifted his spirit.

Thank you for being there for him.

Johann Lang
